Some things live in the body long before they find words — in the silence between diagnosis and healing, between loss and understanding, between who we were told to be and who we are becoming.
Invisible Womb: Rebirth is a solo dance-theater performance holding space for the stories women carry across a lifetime, from girlhood through menopause, that have never been given the space or choice to be seen.
This is not a performance about arguments or positions. It is a witnessed space — a womb space — where grief can be honored, complexity can exist, and something long invisible can finally be held.

Grief. Hiding. The weight of what has never been named.
The struggle. The body fighting its way toward light.

Originally conceived in 2009 during a deeply personal journey through infertility and endometriosis, Invisible Womb returns to the stage transformed. What began as cathartic expression has become something deeper — an integration of seventeen years of living, healing, and witnessing.
Performed by Jetaun DeArman, a licensed marriage and family therapist, somatic artist, choreographer, and minister, this work draws from African diasporic movement traditions — Katherine Dunham technique, West African movement, Capoeira, and Liturgical dance — weaving them with spoken word, original soundscape, and video projection into a single, unbroken ritual of approximately sixty minutes.
Jetaun returns to this work at fifty, from a postmenopausal body, having spent nearly two decades holding other women's stories in clinical practice. That return is not incidental to the work. It is the work.
The womb, in Hebrew rooted in the word racham — mercy — has always carried more than biology. It carries history, memory, identity, and meaning. Invisible Womb: Rebirth creates space for that fuller story to finally be seen.
